ESG conferences have seen a robust return in 2022 with the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, bringing back some sense of normalcy to the world.

7 ESG Events to Put on the Schedule

The second half of 2022 offers a number of events, conferences, and workshops in addition to online webinars for those uncomfortable gathering in person.

Here are seven events in the United States and abroad worth adding to your calendar.

1. ESG & Decarbonizing Real Estate Forum

Real estate investors, managers, developers, and builders can look forward to the ESG & Decarbonizing Real Estate Forum. The conference’s presentations and ESG workshops will cover how real estate investors can use ESG criteria for selecting properties, the new impacts on real estate markets, and ways investors can use real estate investing to drive social change.

2. The Power of Intersectionality and JEDI Investing in the Endowment

Tamara Larsen, a member of the Investment Committee for the David Rockefeller Fund, will moderate a discussion for investors who want to address the economic effects created by social inequities. Panelists Kunle Apampa, Dorian Burton, and Habib Moudachirou will examine important considerations for racial equity investing and practical steps for investing with a justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) lens.

3. AIMA: Putting ESG into Practice 2022

ESG experts will gather to speak at this one-day, in-person conference hosted by the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA). Panels will discuss the latest trends for ESG investing, including net-zero, biodiversity, and human rights. The AIMA: Putting ESG into Practice 2022 conference will also look at how to use responsible investment techniques across a range of strategies.

4. CNBC ESG Impact

CNBC will host the second edition of CNBC ESG Impact and welcome ESG experts to discuss investment strategies. This year’s roster remains unpublished, but the caliber will likely echo last year’s list, including Jim Andrew, chief sustainability officer of PepsiCo; Sarah Bloom Raskin, former deputy treasury secretary of the United States; and Jean Case, chairman of the National Geographic Society. CNBC anchors and reporters will moderate discussions.

5. ESG & Climate Risk USA 2022

This hybrid, two-day conference focuses on the risk management side of ESG investing, including the impact of climate risk on different investments. The ESG & Climate Risk USA 2022 is geared toward general ESG investors, those working in risk management, and investment decision-makers from hedge funds, pension funds, insurance companies, and investment banks.

6. ESG Investment North America 2022

Hosted by Reuters, ESG Investment North America is the largest ESG event in the United States. This year’s conference plans to offer more than 300 attendees, 40 speakers, and 20-plus networking hours. Topics cover a broad range, such as new regulations for ESG investing, net-zero strategies for portfolio management, data and reporting, and shareholder engagement. Scheduled speakers include the likes of Josh Goldstein, head of the Sustainable Finance Group at Goldman Sachs; Mindy Lubber, president of Ceres; and Pedro Antonio Guazo Alonso of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund.

7. ESG Investment Europe 2022

Reuters also hosts an ESG event in Europe. ESG Investment Europe 2022 follows a similar layout as their American event, with presentations and ESG workshop sessions from more than 40 experts in the European ESG investment market. Joining this year’s edition will be Jessica Ground, global head of ESG at the Capital Group; Eelco van der Enden, CEO of Global Reporting Initiative; and Catherine Howarth, CEO of ShareAction.
